Domain names are like real estates in the internet, every one and especially businesses need a domain name for their personal websites or online stores, we have witnessed big domain names sales like Russia's biggest vodka maker has paid $3 million to acquire the vodka.com domain name, or diamond.com sold for $7.5 million to jewelry retailer Ice.com, and Business.com sold for $7.56 million in 1999, etc.. Sales happens every day in big auction sites like sedo, snapnames, afternic … but can this domain name business goes farther than just selling to rent domain names?

Renting domain names may be easy to do as a business, the renter pays for the monthly rent fee , and the domain owner change the dns to the renter 's dns , but it is  not a perfect business , when it comes to build an online store or business it is better to buy the domain you want , or register a domain for your online business than renting a domain from some one else, big reason is when you develop your store and invest a lot of money promoting your website, build traffic and back links to it based on a domain name that you rented , if the domain owner does not want to renewal the rent contract with you any more , he/she will take all what you invested from day one you started your project , traffic , back links for the domain, page rank , and even he/she may put your business reputation in bad shape when the domain owner decide to park the name with a page full of adult paid links.

It's too risky to rent a domain name, so it's better to buy a domain name , or register it even if it is not the perfect domain you wanted for your online business than renting a perfect name that you may lose in the next renewal of the rent contract .
